PART 2 OF AN OVERVIEW OF THE BOOK OF REVELATION: CHAPTER 15 OF INCENTIVIZED TO OVERCOME
Continuing on the theme of Revelation Chapters 4 & 5 concerning the Investiture of Jesus Christ, now in the light of the Old Testament Book of Exodus’ types, shadows and allusions.
The warnings and promises to the 7 Churches in the first 3 chapters of the Book of Revelation are to be solemnly considered and received by Christ’s Body in this current time as “the things which are”. [Revelation 1:19] That is to say this present age of Mercy and Grace appointed for the mystery–filled heavenly calling of a certain people out of the Gentiles for His Name. (See Acts 15:14 with Matthew 13:11) These being a component/part of the ancient Church of God to whom are then given all Mysteries to be revealed as related to the Kingdom of God. (Revelation 10:7, with Romans 16:25 and Mark 4:11, Luke 8:10) It is both the privilege and duty of the disciple of Jesus Christ to study to show oneself approved unto God, rightly dividing the Word of Truth. That there was and is forgiveness of sins through atoning sacrifice was not a mystery, albeit the Sacrifice for the Atonement was. And sadly, through the centuries most ministers, evangelists, missionaries and teachers have known and told but the one feature of the Gospel; Justification. Justification being forgiveness of sins and deliverance from the Lake of Fire. The mystery involves the shining of light, through the prophetic writings, upon religious institutions established on destructive theology spawned by satan and promoted by evil men to establish his kingdom. This too is a mystery; “the mystery of Lawlessness”. (See 2nd Thessalonians 2:7) And it is more fully exposed in Revelation 17 & 18. Truth; the mystery of God is in contrast and opposes satan’s whole scheme and causes disruption in his camp. And in many places, Truth requires courage to promote. (Ephesians 6:20) The Mystery of God concerns the intent and purposes of God regarding the Church (Israel and the New Man), the apostates, the Nations of the Earth, and the unseen ruling spirits in the setting up of His Kingdom in the heavens and earth all in conjunction. This mystery is finally manifested in the 7th Trump’s Return of the Son of God, Jesus Christ to finish the campaign.
God will bring together in victorious harmony all components of His Salvation Plan and the consummation of all things. Including the sealing of the fate of all Evil, for the glory of God and His Christ, and the establishing of His Church, in the reuniting of the dead with the living, in uniting heaven and earth, and the blessing of Israel and the Gentile Nations, now all mysteries manifested in the Kingdom of God.
The 7 Churches are greatly alluded to in the Book of Exodus. (Read Exodus 4, Revelation 2:25, Acts 1:9-11). Those of the heavenly calling are typed as the “elders” out of Israel, who were called with Moses up Mount Sinai. And having ascended only so far, from there Moses was called up higher, even into the very Presence of God. Moses spoke to the “elders” and said “…tarry ye here….” (up on the mount) and wait for my return. So it is in the anti-type; as Christ the Mediator has been called up higher, so the 7 Churches (particularly the anointed leaders) are commanded to remain in their higher anointed calling, and not to descend again into Worldliness, being prayerfully alert and faithfully awaiting His Return. (2nd John 1:8, Hebrews 3, 1st Corinthians 10)
The Book of Exodus holds forth the promises of inheritance to the fearless. Compare this with the promises of the redeemed for the heavenly kingdom’s Overcoming conquerors. Theirs is a better land and place than one filled with milk and honey. (Read and compare Exodus 24 to Revelation 3:21) They will inherit fruit of a greater tree, from the Tree of Life (compare Numbers 13:23 to Revelation 2:7, 22:2) They will inherit a greater Manna treasured up above. (compare Exodus 16:15 to Revelation 2:17a). To these Overcomers, a greater stone and name is inscribed, than that on the earthly High Priest’s holy vesture. (Read and compare Exodus 28:11,12 to Revelation 2:17a). And a better feast awaits the Bride of the heavenly kingdom than that of the 74 upon Mount Sinai. (Compare Exodus 24:11 to Revelation 19:9) And a more brilliant splendor awaits them than that which shined over the tents of Israel. (Compare Exodus 13:21 to Revelation 21:10,11,23-25)
The redeemed followers of Christ, being alerted to the Balaam and Balak type temptations, are to carry a witness to the World as did Moses to Egypt. (Balaam and Balak conversely being the Devil’s “Two Witnesses” whose sins are prevalent in these Last Days.) Let true followers of Christ fear not the World’s anger and hatred for Christ, for He shall grant them, in final deliverance, a far greater glory in the eyes of their foes than God did Moses and Aaron in the those of the Pharaoh and Egyptians. (Exodus 11:8; Revelation 3:9)
Jews were cut off for unbelief, allowing the Christians to be grafted in. Likewise, Christians’ unfaithfulness will bring their removal as witnesses of God in the End Times. And once again, the Jews will be received and restored to represent again His Justice in the Earth for a thousand years. (Hebrews 3:19; Romans 11:17-33)
Read Revelation chapter 4. John sees prophetically “things which must be hereafter.” And he sees “…a throne (being) set in heaven (associated with this Earth), and one sat on the throne.” Him being “….the Ancient of days…” (See also Daniel 7:9 where the vision of this occasion and description of the period is first given.) He will come and sit in Tabernacle glory upon a throne of Justice and Judgment, surrounded by Angels of renown and Cherubim. And there before Him are the torches of fire and the sea of glass, typed in Moses’ tabernacle by the Menorah and the laver of brass full of water. The scene is exampled for us in God’s purposeful descending upon Mount Sinai (Exodus 19:12,16) and is closely descriptive of Ezekiel’s vision in chapter 1. It represents to us the Creator’s future frightful descending unto the unseen heaven related to this Earth, as He had previously descended to Mount Sinai and called Moses up before Him, who there portrays Christ in type in the scene of the last days. (Exodus 19:20) The theme; as seen in the types before us, is that of the throne of grace and mercy upon the redeemed (Exodus 15:13, Hebrews 4:16) having been exhausted by Israel before and now among the Gentiles. So He determines to separate the faithful from the unfaithful, as He did with Israel before. (Exodus 32:1, 26) Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the Lord’s side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him. [Exodus 32:26]
(This types the set apart believers who choose the Lord’s side as opposed to those who grow impatient for Christ’s Return and resort to worshiping the golden calf of worldly gods.) Equity, is the theme of the Second Coming, the “…things which must be hereafter.” Equity being that which is just and righteous. What is in harmony with His ancient and presently revealed Word is to be executed and established.
Revelation chapter 5 with Exodus 3 shows a greater intermediary than Moses before the “burning bush” of God. Whose feet may remain shod, as He approaches the throne, for He is worthy to stand on holy ground. The victorious Passover Lamb, slain and risen as the great Atonement propitiation, the only worthy to unseal the new and better Covenant, has no need to ask “who sends me?” Nor does he warrant for more knowledge and power, for He is already the fully Anointed One, now receiving supreme executive authority. He, whose “elders” are gathered before Him already in worship and eager to do His bidding. (Exodus 4:29-31)
He now immediately proceeds as God’s great Judge in equity upon this World and Deliverer from Earth’s Pharaohs, of those two Covenant peoples unto their respective promised, “…good and large land flowing with milk and honey…”.
