THE BOOK OF ROMANS CHAPTER 11
LAYING THE GROUNDWORK

The Book of Romans, for clearer understanding, may be divided into these 6 topics:

• Chapters 1-2… Condemnation……. (both Jews and Gentiles)
• Chapters 3-5…  Justification……. (imputed righteousness of God for both)
• Chapters 6-8… Sanctification…… (imparted through struggle; spirit with flesh)
• Chapters 9-11…Prophetic……(the blindness of Israel, the restoration of Israel)
• Chapters 12-15…Practical……. (application after previous instruction)
• Chapter 16……. Practical and Prophetic (loving application and Mystery)

In Romans 11, we have the Mystery of the blindness of Israel and the Gentile Church, and the final and concluding work of God in the restitution of all things. (Acts 3:21 with Matthew 17:11) It’s God’s Millennial New Covenant and theocratic appointment of restored Israel (both Judah and Ephraim… Ezekiel 37) over the then to be judged Nations which is central to End Time events that is being characterized by Paul in this Chapter. This being the central theme of all the numerous Old Covenant unfulfilled prophecies. 

All the writings of the prophets of God are full of statements that directly deal with God’s finishing work with Israel and to that which Paul lightly touches upon here. That being that Israel has yet in its future a final severe judgment unto ‘death with resurrection’ to follow, that time prophesied of is Jacob’s Trouble. (Jeremiah 30 & 31; Amos 9; Revelation 12:14-17; Matthew 24:15-22) This death and resurrection of Israel is numbered in days and is forecast to be those specific prophesied days just preceding and accompanying Christ’s Return from Heaven. This is when Jesus shall fulfill all Old and New Testament Scriptures prophetic to Israel’s restoration as a place and people as He restores them also to their lost gifts and callings. This death and resurrection that few modern-day Jews are aware of (and even fewer Christians are aware of) looms on the not-too-distant and approaching horizon. 

Well, we might ask; what is the extended prophetic warning lesson to the Gentiles here in this Chapter? It is the New Man leaven of pride which will fully rise that is foreseen. Such a spiritual pride that is as blinding as Israel’s. (Revelation 3:16-17) These End Time Christians, blinded in the darkness of religious pride, who when the faithfully patient First-Fruit offerings of the living overcomers of the New Man (Gentile & Jewish followers of Jesus) are gathered up out from among them, are set before His Tribunal Throne rejoicing in the unseen heavens just above the earth. (Revelation 3:10;12:5 with Revelation 4:2; Psalm 103:19; Daniel 7:9-10) Then the unprepared, un-ripened, Laodicean-type of believers remain in the field in hope of being ripened and harvested, having been tested in the intense heat of the great Temptation Hour which precedes the great gathering up in the full Harvest towards the end of that appointed 7 year Tribulation period. (Revelation 14:15) It is these lukewarm blind Christian believers who now experience the ‘cutting off’ and are left in the field (Romans 7:22) on the Earth to experience the Great Temptation, which answers also to Jeremiah’s End Time prophecy of Jacob’s Trouble for those then living Jews. The destinies of the two groups of God’s people (prideful Laodicean-like Christians and prideful stubborn Jews) are interwoven. 

All the final day energies and resources of these Christians who are left behind, but awakening to their Hebraic roots, are to be called upon. They are now being called upon to fear God and to lovingly lay down their lives for their Jewish brethren. The heat of the sun of testing, great trial, and maturing beats down relentlessly on the tribulation Christian. In that 2000 years ago the Jews were cut off as the enemies of God that Gentiles might be saved, so now the Gentile New Man believers in Christ (who were found asleep, un-watching, and unfaithful when the faithful were rewarded by being caught up and kept from the Temptation Hour) find themselves as the Jews were before them, cut off from the fatness of the Olive tree. Theirs now is the saving sanctifying opportunity in that they might be allies and instruments to save the remnant Jews’ physical lives. 

The Land of Israel is to be ran over by the avenging ‘slayer’ (Ezekiel 21:11) and ransacked, and Jews will then be hotly pursued throughout the earth. It is not anti-Semitism on a human prejudice social level that we or Scripture are speaking of, it is much deeper and darker. It’s the demonic forces who are then desperately in full battle array against God’s people, both Christians and Jews. (We are not comparing these last days with these days of Charismatic Christianity, wherein some are exercising individual deliverance from demonic influence or possession based upon their Biblical understanding. Nor are we speaking of these Christians praying for certain access in areas of demonic influence. This modern-day Christian activity would be mere child’s play in comparison to this overwhelming onslaught of the enemy who, at that point in this justly determined time, will have been freed up/unleashed.  The power they exercise will be unbridled, and far greater than that of the previous 2000 years of restraints upon them in God’s Age of mercy and grace. The 7 year Tribulation period is a transition period from the Age of Mercy and Grace to the Age of Justice. It is at this time that the fullness of the Gentiles come in has ended and the Age of Justice begins as the Jews finally and completely answer to the prophetic words and their breaking of the Covenant of Moses, while the Gentile Nations answer to their wickedness in light of the Noahic Covenant (law of blood for blood) and the End Time prophetic words begin to be fulfilled.

This un-restraining is in answer to the Accuser’s final days of prosecution and persecution, being lawfully granted by God, but mercifully numbered. (Revelation 12:10-12) Now it is on the one hand, satan’s last great opportunity to destroy the faith of God’s seed in the earth, and yet on the other hand, it the greatest of refining fires that are brought to bear upon the faith of those awakening to their heavenly calling (1st Peter 1:7) and to those remnant ‘keepers of the Commandments of God’ /Jews. (Revelation 7:1-8) It is only by intense suffering in maintained patient faithfulness that one now will be fit to rule. (Revelation 14:12-13)  “And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.” (See Revelation12:7,17; Daniel 12:1 with Daniel 14:12)

God uses Satan and his fallen angels, and all their resources to refine His two groups of people (these resources reaching even unto the center of the earth; to the place of the dead from where both the false prophet and Beast/Antichrist rise out from, as do the locus-like creatures described in Revelation 9 which come up out of the bottomless pit. See also Revelation 13:1,2,7,11) Their unified intense purpose then is to cut God’s two peoples off from the Divinely ordained kingly and priestly governmental authority over the Gentile Nations of the Earth. That which is to be in their future respective places; the heavens above and the earth beneath. (Isaiah 2; Micah 4:1; Revelation 7 & 20:4-6) Their diabolical goal is to annihilate the Jews from the face of the Earth. In that way and that way only, they may maintain their usurping authority over the Nations. Their intent is to destroy the Woman’s seed, first as it relates to Jews, and secondly to any who aid them, as now their kingdom is discovered unto them cut in half and limited only to the earth, having been cast down and out from the heaven associated with this the Earth from that high place which they have ruled over mankind for 6000 years. These have now lost the realm of the heavens associated with this earth, through the resulting calling up into the heavens of the selfless worthies who had been conformed, while in this World, through sufferings; into the image of Christ. They being the First-Fruits, the light bearers, the salt who were determined already fit to rule, are now “…taken out of the way.”  

Read Revelation Chapter 12… And the Woman  (representative of all God’s people) brought forth (after much travail) a man child, who was (having overcome the World and judged as fit) to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his (judgment tribunal) throne (in the unseen 1^st heaven above this Earth) …And there was war in heaven (this heaven, not the 3^rd Heaven from whence satan had already millenniums ago been cast out of into this realm)…and the devil was cast down onto the earth with all his angels…the heavens’ dwellers now rejoice…but woe unto those on the earth and on the seas for the devil is come down unto you having great wrath, because he knows he has but a short time…. to avenge God’s just rulings and to go beyond to accomplish his own devices. That is …no Jewish contingent, no earthly Kingdom.“They (not only nations, but spiritual enemies) have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation: that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance. For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee.” (Psalms 83:3-5; Revelation 11:2; Daniel 8:23-25) This is their intense further purpose and it will be the sorrowful state in which Israel and Jews throughout the Earth then stand (for somewhere in the Old Testament it is said God has used the enemies of Israel to judge them, but they would oft times take liberties and go beyond in cruelty that which God prescribed. It is this that satan’s mind is intent upon). 

And it is in suffering intense heat in awakened faithfulness that the iron is forged. It is Job’s trial set in for these who are then the Woman’s seed. What is required is the overcoming of self-righteousness in some (Jews) and presumption in others (Christians). Only by overcoming will these be fit to rule in Christ’s Kingdom soon coming. 

It is this End Time of the Great Temptation that comes over all the Earth; which will cause not a few to look unto temporal relief and sacrifice the spiritual realities. It will be the prescribed sanctifying work of God on the merely justified New Man, who will be spurned and persecuted for his noncompliance to the burgeoning humanistic ruling society who has rejected… “…the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie (of the Antichrist/False Prophet): That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” (2nd Thessalonians 2:3-12) It is the standing against this onslaught that prepares and capacitates the Christian as he extends his helping hand to the Jew even under the sure threat of loss of his goods and his life. It is the fitting of 2 peoples of God in a mighty single stroke for Millennial rule. One group fitted by self-sacrificing works of a martyring kind extended unto another group, who is the elect remnant of God. This is the prophetic backdrop that Paul has laid down his words of warning against in this letter to the Gentile believers. If they don’t maintain their Hebraic biblically-based faith (that is, Abrahamic- like … not a faith based upon ‘Jewish’ Rabbinic understanding developed after their being cut off, as some have wrongly supposed as God’s directive and errantly drifted from the Truth… for we are the spiritual seed of Abraham, and no seed at all of Isaac or Jacob) then they, like the Jews before, shall be cut off from the fatness of the Olive Tree. And only in the faithfulness for the Lord manifest in their suffering and laying down of their lives for their ‘spiritual brothers’ sake, in the time of Great Temptation, they then like the End Time Jews, shall have hope in being ‘grafted’ back in again, fully realized in the Harvest catching up at the end of that great purifying test. (Revelation 14:16, 20:4-6; 1st Thessalonians 4:16-17) 

Let us briefly look at the time and the events that are to follow the Temptation Hour/Jacob’s Trouble which answer to Paul’s telling statement of Romans 11 Verse 15: “For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?” 

1) Christ shall descend from the heavens related to this earth with His train of worthy followers. “And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.” (Revelation 19:14) And “Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.” [Revelation 1:7] It’s the time of Zechariah 14. Read as but one reference of many. 

2) Jesus Christ, in Triumph over satan and his forces, now secures the Earth, having already secured the heavens. “And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.” [Revelation 20:1-3]

3) Christ resurrects the faithful Jews of all Tribes out from among the dead in Sheol in the center of the Earth and gathers all the scattered living Jews from all the Nations to Israel in the establishing of His Millennial Kingdom on the Earth. (Daniel 12:2-3; Ezekiel 36:24, 37:13,21,22,24)

4) The Lord will implement His New Covenant with Israel. The Old Covenant is now annulled. What Covenant is that? It is the Mosaic Covenant. Its judgment exactness has been weighed out to full satisfaction. Jacob’s Trouble is forever past. But what then is the New Covenant? It is that of Jeremiah 31:31-33; Ezekiel 36:24-28; and Hebrews 8:9-13.

5) He will establish His Sanctuary, wherein the Glory of the God of Israel will reside (Ezekiel 43:1-7), with its priesthood, its sacrifices, and rituals. Those who believe the idea that these have passed with the Mosaic Covenant, have not thought far enough to Israel’s past Covenants. The Mosaic Covenant is cancelled because of Israel’s fault “…because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.” (Hebrews 8:9) But not the Covenant of Noah or that of Abraham or that of David. They carry on.

And those things which were previous and picked up and continued in the Mosaic Covenant are not now annulled because of its institution nor its cancellation (Galatians 3:17) but those certain ancient features of worship and promises previous are to carry on in the Millennium… 

1) Such as Israel’s promises to Abraham and his seed to have eternal continuance and preeminence in the Earth.

2) the exercising of a heartfelt loving faith co-enjoined with true worship with promises of an eternal kind for faithfulness in righteous living in the new heavens and new earth yet in the future to be realized after the Millennial Kingdom of Christ.

3) the ancient reintroduction of animal sacrifices of Abel, Noah, and the Patriarchs (Abraham, Isaac and Jacob) in their appointed place are in Scripture declared valid and beneficial by God.  

Those things which were referred to by the Apostle to the Gentiles as beggarly elements, mere types and shadows, that is for those of the heavenly calling (Hebrews 3:1) are yet spiritual and physical realities of the earthly calling.

Faith in the Blood Atonement provision of Christ as it relates to ongoing forgiveness of sins, coupled with repentance and obedience, unto a certain worthiness in the obtaining a glorious inheritance in the spiritual realm appears to be reserved just for that heavenly calling. Whereas faith in the Blood of Christ propitiates in the ‘New Covenant’ for the Jew unto justification with the gift of eternal life in the earthly calling, being the seed of Abraham. Yet faith and appeal to God through Christ’s Blood is not a part of that “New” Covenant to be exercised unto the necessary continued propitiation for forgiveness of ongoing sins while living during the Millennial Kingdom of Christ on the Earth. The “New” Covenant is the return to the principles of the Abrahamic Covenant, founded on justifying faith in God, the substitutionary blood on their altars pointing towards the Blood of His Christ, a procured righteousness without works of Law, with an internal writing of God’s Laws upon the heart and mind.

There is yet a righteousness to be worked out practically in obedience to God’s Laws. We see that in the Gospel heavenly calling, and it is the same in the Millennial Gospel calling of a New Heavens and a New Earth set before all remaining and those who will be born in the Millennial Kingdom of Christ.

There is therein a necessary propitiation for those disqualifying sins committed and to be set against a personal developing righteousness, and effectiveness in ministry wherein they are called. Wherein may be found forgiveness, not based upon Christ’s Blood, but based upon confession, repentance, and the substitutionary blood of animals sacrificed according to God’s Millennial directives. (Ezekiel 43-46) And that being in order to continue to run the race set before them in their personal inheritance to be realized in the New Heavens and New Earth. This will be determined by works while living in the Millennial Kingdom and discovered at the White Throne Judgment. (Revelation 20:11 through Revelation 21:5)

The final object of discovery then is that God in forethought had determined an eternal Kingdom made up of both heavens and earth. This is established in Scripture in that man came into existence wherein was the heavens and the earth. God’s continuation of that, which He established from the beginning to carry on forever, is seen in the new heavens and new earth. God had planned from the beginning to have Jew, Gentile (those of the Nations), and the New Man incorporated into His eternal Kingdom. Each being appointed in their rightful place, which is bore out by Scripture in the further description of John, who details which group will reside where in those different realms. 

The individual man (Jew, Gentile, or New Man), called to inherit a part over the 7000 years of God’s re-creative work, may by unbelief/rebellion forfeit the privileges that accompany that calling. Nevertheless, even those who refuse Him, even the basic rights of the Creator, will yet serve Him as examples of His Holiness and Justice as eternal vessels of His Wrath. But after that final great White Throne Judgment, those who have received His mercy and grace throughout the different Ages, will all stand in their respective inheritances, and together declare this exclamation of amazement: “O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! For who hath known the mind of the Lord? Or who hath been his counselor? Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again? For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory forever. Amen.” [Romans 11:33-36]
