The Rapture Typed in Enoch

As many of us and or our families are supposed to be here in the soon coming Tribulation Period defined in Holy Scripture….

Enoch and Noah, in type, pose the prophetic question to the spiritually sensitive ear… THAT OF: Which group shall I be in?

  1. Am I to escape by being supernaturally caught up to the heavens?
  2. Or must I flee and then patiently endure?

“Enoch WALKED WITH GOD and he was not; for God took him.” [Genesis 5:24]

“Noah was a just man perfect in his generation, and Noah walked with God.” [Genesis 6:9]

Several distinctions exist scripturally between the two. Though they both “walked with God”, it is but mentioned once in Scripture as it relates to Noah, but twice as it relates to Enoch. (Verses 22 &24) In this, we see the heavenly calling requires a greater intimacy than that of the earthly calling.

And to Enoch’s Walk additionally was given the NC privilege of comparative God-pleasing faith of the heavenly translating kind………

By faith Enoch was translated that he would not see death. And was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.” [Hebrews 11:5] This “FAITH”… pleasing God, the Rewarder, then translates a reward for devotional walking faith that far exceeds merely conversion faith with KEEPING promise. (A reward that transcends not just the greatly extended escape from the eventual experience of death, but the award of tremendous destiny in the final drama of the end time, of which we shall speak more of shortly).

So in Enoch; Scripture represents and compares the New Covenant inheritance to the faithfully walking in the heavenly kingdom calling and the End Time group to whom the Rapture is peculiarly linked with. Therein, Enoch also being the End Time warning Message (in the type, the warning prior to the flood) now of the 2nd Coming of Christ which Jude portrays Enoch of declaring…. And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these (6000 yrs later), saying Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, To execute judgment upon all (Jew and  Gentile World, and Church) to convict all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.” And Noah represents Earthly-minded, non translated, Israel and the then awakened from sleep, Believer in Christ. Enoch and Noah lived in a time rapidly increasing in violence and wickedness, a God-forsaken time, similar to that we are now experiencing like no time since.

Jesus sets before us the reality of this end time dynamic in the prophetic Word of the Tribulation in the 24th chapter of Matthew first typed for us in Genesis 5 and 6. Here He defines the two Last Days groups, the one ESCAPING BY BEING CAUGHT UP, and the other left to FLEE AND PATIENTLY ENDURE UNTIL THE END OF ALL these things…… “For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the Ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming the the son of man be (surprisingly, but not without warning, but without fanfare). Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Watch therefore (Luke 21:36) and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.) for ye know not what hour your Lord doeth come.” [Matthew 24:38-42]

The other group at the same time, are warned by Jesus thus: When ye therefore shall see the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place,…Then let them which be in Judea flee into the mountains: Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.” [Matthew 24:14-18]

What Christ narrowly depicted in Matthew is seen in full view in the Book of His Revelation. First again in the warning with promise to those NC Believers then and now living in that end time… “Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep (by translation Matthew) thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. Behold I come quickly (and secretly): hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.”

And then in that certain last generation (Luke 21:32) the full prophetic impact then seen in Revelation Chapter 12:1-6 …..a woman…..she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up (that which Matthew 24:40 has in view… being those of the heavenly calling and heavenly minded thus this group escaped, not by fleeing but watching and praying) unto God, and his throne. And the woman (being less noble than her son, this group having been earthly minded, those of Matt 24:16) fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God…”

Our present calling as a NC Believer is a heavenly calling (Ephesians 2:6, Hebrews 3:1) to WALK WITH GOD in the midst of human things in the full practical recognition of the glories which have been made known to us as belonging to us in Christ, our head and Lord, above at God’s right hand.

These Words of Prophecy have been bestowed on us in order that we may know how, in the midst of the confusion of many end time false Teachers and teachings and the varied forms of satan’s present workings, we may stand and act as those who belong to Christ.  Rightly dividing the Word, in particular the Prophetic Words with its convicting and faith filling meanings have been lost to the Church. As satan knows, it is the material of Faith by which we may stand and walk with God in purifying hope in these treacherous days. We know the enemy has sought to cast discredit upon every effort which is made either for any to understand and or use correctly interpreted prophecy themselves, or to give instruction to others therein.

Let us use, as an example of what we say….

In the first year of Darius, I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem.”  The “books” to which Daniel refers were apparently the letters which Jeremiah had written to the captives in Babylon [Jeremiah 29:10], as well as his other mention of “seventy years” [25: 11].

See how Daniel connected Faith and hope resting upon promise with prophecy: The hope-based faith was that the captives will return from Babylon. And instead of this being vaguely held, he used the intelligence which God had given him through prophecy, so that he hoped confidently, while waiting for God’s time to fulfill the appointed time and his personal hope be fully realized. It was not just the knowledge, but the sincere effect with watchful prayer in the detail connected with these things that brought his soul into a healthy condition before God with the exercise of his conscience about these matters. [Read Daniel 9, John 3:2,3 with Revelation 1:3]

And so, surely, the Spirit always teaches. We may either follow our carnal speculations about the things which God has revealed, or else have our eyes and ears open to hear all His instruction. The latter is our only safeguard against deceptive speculation. Someone has said “Happy is that believer who holds what God has revealed, in (personal) dependence upon His grace, and the power of His Spirit, to enable him to use it aright.”

Isnt the Message of the last days to the Jews and the left behind…. “Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you….. And I will be found of you, saith the Lord; and I will turn away your captivity”….. [Jeremiah 29:12-14]

For both Israel and the Church left behind, there will be no deliverance without that deeper walk with God; as seen in yielded watchfulness is a superior sanctity to a momentary obedience. [Matthew 24: 16]

Can not Enoch being caught away be compared to the quickly ripened by NC  test and trial First Fruits? [1 Corinthians 15:23], and Revelation 14 as those of Noah who being in the same field, lagged behind and experienced the severe heat of the summer unto Harvest. Matthew 13, Revelation 14. And as Christ was offered as the First Fruit of First Fruits at Passover, [Leviticus 23:10] the reality of the shadow of Enoch, Noah represents the First Fruits and Harvest of Pentecost in the 2 loaves with leaven baked in the oven together finally to be brought out and waved unto the Lord. [Leviticus 23:17]

Not without Enoch’s FAITH, shall we be deemed worthy of an Enoch-like translation.  Not without Enoch’s WALK shall we be finally found among the wise and ready virgins.  Not without Enoch’s TESTIMONY concerning the coming of the King and Judge, shall the precious promise to the Philadelphian Church [Revelation 3:10] be made good to us” (W. Maude).

Luke 21:36…. For it is obvious that we do not ‘watch and make supplication to prevail’ unto saving regeneration, but by prayerful vigilance to prevail after conversion.  “Making supplication at every season to prevail” is much more than regeneration, the work of a moment.  One scholars translation is very suggestive: “Take heed to yourselves in case your hearts get overpowered by dissipation and drunkenness, and worldly anxieties, and so that day catches you suddenly as a trap: from hour to hour keep awake, praying that you may succeed in escaping all these dangers to come, and in standing before the Son of Man.”  Stier thus sums up the consequences of the prayerful vigil: “‘To stand before the Son of Man’: first of all, to stand as one escaped from the judgment, saved from the wrath and judgment: but then, at the same time, as the highest and last thing of which we can be made or thought worthy, as heirs of His Kingdom to stand before Him for ever.”
