The Parable of the Ten Virgins (The Wise and Foolish Virgins)
THE KINGDOM OF GOD AND THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN/ Kingdom of the Messiah
A few words about them
The Kingdom of Heaven is the Kingdom of The Messiah.
It is limited in its scope as it is dispensational.
Its scope is in 2 spheres….the earth and the Heavens just above the earth.
It encompasses all human beings with 2 future ruling groups Israel and The Church. The earthly scope is that which Old Covenant Prophets spoke of and is referred to as The Messiah’s Earthly Kingdom with Israel as His preeminent and ruling People.
The Heavenly scope from just above the earth The Messiah and His Church shall rule. Daniel 7:18 “the saints of the most High “…people of the saints of the most High”
The duration runs through the 1000 year millennial period. Rev 20:4
The Kingdom of God has God as The Ruler.
That Kingdom is in The Third Heaven. 2 Cor 12:2
It is unlimited in Scope and is Eternal.
That Kingdom is inclusive in that it combines both the physical and spiritual seed of Abraham.
“And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever.” Dan 2:44. Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. 1 Cor 15:24
“Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations, and I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me, that ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel:” Luke 22:28-30
WHEN? When this age is over and Christ comes into His Kingdom after the first resurrection. The kingdom of heaven then is the millennial glory appointed for Christ.
(There is an exception to this use of the expression which is often quoted. The Pharisees inquired of the Saviour, “When is the kingdom of God coming?” To which he replied, “The kingdom of God is not coming with observation, (watching,) neither shall they say, ‘ Lo here,’ or ‘ lo there,’ for behold, the kingdom of God is within you:” Luke 17:20-21
In the above words, our Lord speaks unknowingly to the Pharisees in that “the kingdom of God,” has a somewhat different meaning from the phrase, “the kingdom of heaven; What Christ is saying is bringing attention to is the necessary internal preparation of the soul, without which, inquiry into the outward and future kingdom’s coming was but vain religious curiosity.)
