THE REVELATION OF DANIEL

The Revelation of Daniel Chapter 9

THE KEY TO ALL PROPHECY

In Daniel 9 the first part is a spirit-given example of prayer, after that of the Lord’s prayer found in Luke 11 and Matthew 6. “…in this manner or like pattern pray…” We could do a whole a lesson on prayer, but our focus today is upon events associated with end time prophecy.

DANIEL 9:24-27 is THE KEY TO ALL PROPHECY, the fulcrum between the Book of Genesis and the Book of Revelation.

Today the Jew has come back into the Land. What began earnestly as a movement 120 years ago by Dr. Theodor Herzl has, since 1948, been a marvel of reality. That which prophetically remains is the reinstitution of the Temple sacrifices, at which time the prophetic part of the Apocalypse of Scripture shall begin.

The Angel Gabriel tells Daniel ….“seventy weeks have been determined (divided, more strictly said) upon thy people, and upon thy holy city…to anoint the most holy (place or holy of holies)” (Septenaries; that which numerically stands for maturing perfection or dispensational perfection, were/are common ways of determining times to the Jews.)

Verses 25,26 & 27: “Know this and understand, from the issuing of the decree to restore and to build Jerusalem unto Messiah the Prince (shall be) seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be again built, and the wall, even in troubled times. And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself and the people of the prince (the Anti-Christ) that shall come shall destroy the city and sanctuary: and the end thereof shall be with a flood (of forces), and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. And he (the prince who shall come) shall confirm a covenant with the many (or the multitude of Jews) for one week; and at half the week he shall cause sacrifice and offering to cease; and upon the wing of abominations (shall be) that which causeth desolation, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the causer of desolation.”

Every prophecy of the New Testament, and every representation of the time-point of the second coming of Christ for His saints, is dominated and determined by the jurisdiction of the Interval and the 70th Week.

All prophecy centers around the two comings of the Lord. Daniel’s time line of 3 periods; 7 weeks of years=49 years 62 weeks of years=434 years and 1 week of 7 years which all total 490 years becomes clear when the 2 comings of the Lord are reconciled, both referred to in these 4 verses.

All three periods of time could have been concurrent, one following immediately after the other. God presented it to the discerning in this manner that we might know that the opportunity for the Jews, if they had stopped to look at it objectively and prayerfully as Daniel had before them, (as also did Simeon, Anna and to some extent even the Magi) they would of understood that: Christs Words’ “the kingdom of the heavens is nigh” meant that the prophetic words and years of Daniel 9 were upon them as manifest in Himself.

Nearly 483 years had passed, it is the time of the promised Restoration. Elijah had come as prophesied, in the form of John the baptizer. [Malachi 4:5] The ambiguity noticed by His Disciples (Matthew 11:14) had to do with the same ambiguity of the last 1 week of years’ period given to Daniel. In that they could have recognized the time of their visitation, and sought God wholeheartedly as did Daniel, and received the Lord. Scripture would have been fulfilled (Malachi 4:5) and the Kingdom would have then been restored and prevented any further desolation. But the Jews received Him not. And the Lord, having Daniel 9:27 in view, declares: “I am come in my Father’s name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.” [John 5:43]

Consequently then, came the Lord’s Words to Israel, “…let no fruit grow on you henceforth forever.” Matthew 21:19 is a reference to His rejection and to their resulting judgment for the last 2000 years. And His Words recorded in Matthew 24:15 onward through chapter 25:46 unmistakablyplace the 70thweek of Daniel at the end of this Age; the time of His 2ndComing.

“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder.” [Isaiah 9:6] Now the Child was born, and the Son was given, at the first advent; but the government did not then pass upon Him, for He was cut off violently and there was nothing for Him. The 70thweek was suspended. He left our World as that nobleman going into a far country to receive for Himself a kingdom and to return. THEREFORE at the second coming, will the government be placed upon His shoulder. The prerequisite of restoration of Him bringing His people back in the land is repentance. [Leviticus 26:40-42, Deuteronomy  30:1-3,etc.] And this vocalized in prayer is intimated in Jeremiah 29:12-14. Read.

His first coming was in answer to the promise of the Messiah; Priest and King who being rejected then became the sin offering.  In the second coming He is the King of kings who comes in power to lay claim to His Kingdom, and as a consequence, restores Israel to the Land.

Much here could be said about the Messiah’s being cut-off, His offering, His suffering, His purpose, and the Old Covenant prophets who testified beforehand of “the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow… Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you…..” [1 Peter 1:9-12]

Set before them as their King, and that in the same month of Nissan, that the edict went forth to restore Jerusalem 483 years earlier. And that only 6 days before His crucifixion. And correspondingly, the shouts of the people were, “Hosanna, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord.” Now, just a few days later at His cutting off; the unified cry was “crucify Him, crucify Him” And so it was, He was put to death as the King of the Jews.

Thus Christ’s reference to the man whom had the demon cast out, has this application as well. The nation was swept clean and restored to the land from Babylon after 70 years and then garnished in their subsequent return to their old ways in cold religious formalism of self-glorification. And as a result, 7 worse came into to possess. That speaks to their great blindness of today. [Leviticus 26:18]

What is the interim time before that suspended period of time?

It is the time of Deuteronomy 28: Read verses 64-67, Hosea 3:4, Micah5:1-3. It is the time laid before the Jews by Christ and John for 3 ½ years (two Witnesses) as their inheritance; the Kingdom of Heavens is nigh, which they rejected. “Therefore say I unto you, the Kingdom of God shall be taken from you…. and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof (the time wherein that is accomplished).” It is that time of Luke 19:11-12 that the disciples wrongly thought to be immediate. But it is now the time of that, “nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom.…” And then afterwards, at a point later in time, as opposed to immediately following the 69 weeks, “…and then (much later) return.” It is that time that His called servants, after having received of Him, are required to faithfully “occupy till” He comes.

What is the 7 year suspended period of time?

It is the 70thweek of Daniel 9.

It is that time which is perfectly duplicated in the Book of Revelation, in the 9thchapter of Daniel in verse 27 the 2nd half only is spoken of. It is in Revelation 11that the first half is given in that time of the Two Witnesses, as well as the end point in verses15-19. Read.

It is the time of the Covenant of hell. [Isaiah 28:15]

It is time of the abomination of (that brings God’s) desolation upon the Desolator, that great offense that stands or is set in the determined Holy Place. (“place where I caused my name to dwell”) [Daniel 9:27, Matthew 24:15]

It is the time of the Desolation of the consumption determined on Israel.

It is that last 7 year period before Christ returns to the Earth.

It is the time of that which withholdeth is taken away.

It is the time when the little horn emerges from among the 10 nation confederation.

It is the last week of years of the Anti-Christ.

It is the last week of years before the end of the times of the Gentiles and the judgment of the Gentile nations.

It is the last week of years wherein the Harvest and Resurrection out from among the dead occurs.

It is the Last Week of years that the restoration of Israel begins. That is to say when the Word/Jesus the Messiah appears to the Jews as a Jew. Not as a part of this Age of the Gospel, under the appeal of the Cross, but a different application of it, where “…in that day there shall be a fountain opened to the House of David, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.” After which is the introduction of THEIR NEW COVENANT which is a blend of the Old. [Jeremiah 31:33-40, Hebrews 8] Wherein is fulfilled to Israel the six-fold blessings predicted in Daniel chapter 9:24. This being the termination of Israel’s apostasy, the pardon of Israel’s sins, the reconciliation of Israel to God, the introduction of enduring righteousness, the verification and end of all prophecy.

It is at the very end of that 7 year period of time that Ezekiel’s Temple is to be built by the Prince of God, and the consecration of a new Holy of Holies.

It is the end of the Age of Mercy and Grace, the beginning of the Millennial Age of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.

WHAT ABOUT THE TEMPLE?

Once was Jerusalem and the Temple given up by God to the Gentiles and destroyed by literal Babylon, once again by Rome or mystic Babylon. (Leaving spiritual worship in the Temple on high accessible by faith only John 4:2,24.) There certainly is reference to a third and final violation in conjunction with restored Sanctuary offerings intimated here in Daniel 9:27.

Revelation 11 says that Jerusalem will be given up to the Gentiles/the Anti-Christ in the last days. “And the holy city shall they tread underfoot forty and two months.” Corresponding with Luke’s statement, Jerusalem is to be trodden down by the Gentiles till the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. The question becomes: Is there a restoration/rebuilding of the historic Temple implied or specific in Scripture in the location of Solomon’s/Herod’s Temple site before the 3 ½ period of Jacob’s great trouble?  Ezekiel’s Sanctuary/Temple? Could the abomination that brings desolation be associated with a “Sanctuary” located in modern day Shiloh? [Psalms 48:2]
